What did you do for your preparedness this week? (2015-08-01)

The most read article written during this past week has been “Preparing For A Long Term Depression” which inspired lots of comments. The subject is apparently genuinely on the minds of many, and is quite likely a real possibility as the world’s debt bubble shows signs of ‘maximum bulge’ before the POP.

With that said, surprisingly, the article “SPAM® For Food Storage” is rapidly catching up with # of reads and has surpassed many others with regards to comments. I believe that’s a result of most everyone relating in some way to this very unique ‘food’ that apparently has a shelf life believed to be somewhere in the vicinity of 500 years, more or less… ? The comments are filled with lots of your own personal recipes (thanks for sharing!).

And rounding off the week I posted a controversial (for some) article which directly touched the political ‘3rd-rail’, “Truth Is An Existential Threat To The US Government”. I hold a generally cynical view of our current politicians (BOTH the D’s and the R’s) and I do entirely believe that ‘most’ are beholden to their money masters (‘big money’) with little regard to ‘we the people’. Although it is evident that the majority of regular visitors here lean towards ‘the right’, conservative, and/or perhaps some Libertarian, I also know that there are (is) a fair number on the left as well. While I may disagree politically with the left-leaning and/or so called progressives, we can still share a common thread here of preparedness – because even many of ‘the left’ know that there’s a storm coming… With that said, once in awhile I feel compelled to push the ‘political’ hot button… Makes for interesting conversation…

Alright – with that summary under our belts, what have you been up to this week? Care to share? It’s open-forum…

For me, I again used this week on my solar project. I have finally finished all of the ground mounts and all panels are up! It was brutal given the very hot and muggy week while digging holes, pouring concrete footings, etc… but it will all be worth it in the end. The next phase of the project will be digging a trench from the house to the panel location so to lay some pipe and run wire for all the hookups. But that will have to wait for a few weeks, because, I am now on a working vacation having arrived here yesterday for a few weeks. Will still be posting daily as usual – but will also enjoy some fishing and ‘R&R’.
